Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) has been recognized with a double award at the Cambridge IFA Global Good Governance (3G) Awards 2026, receiving the 3G Community Development & Philanthropy Award and the 3G Best Sustainable Practices Award, highlighting its continued commitment to nation-building and sustainability.

The Community Development & Philanthropy Award recognizes MPTC’s long-standing work in creating social impact across the communities it serves nationwide. Operating through its expressway network and strong partnerships with local government units, MPTC has made community development part of its core operations, not just a CSR initiative. In 2025 alone, the company invested over ₱20.6 million in community programs, engaged more than 500 employee volunteers, and contributed over 1,100 volunteer hours supporting road safety, disaster response, environmental initiatives, and livelihood activities.

A major focus of its programs is road safety, anchored on partnerships with agencies such as UNICEF and national and local governments. This has led to the expansion of safe school zones from 50 to 194 schools, benefiting over 43,000 students, along with nationwide campaigns that have reached millions of Filipinos. These efforts have also contributed to policy adoption and the integration of road safety measures in local governance. Complementing this are ongoing programs for drivers, riders, barangays, and LGUs, including safety seminars, community road safety campaigns, and capability-building workshops. MPTC also supports education through scholarships for students from low-income families, as well as livelihood and community enterprise programs that help build long-term self-reliance. In times of disaster, the company provides timely assistance to affected communities and motorists.

On the sustainability side, the Best Sustainable Practices Award recognizes MPTC’s efforts to embed environmental responsibility into its business strategy. Guided by its sustainability framework, the company continues to push initiatives focused on decarbonization, resilience, and resource efficiency across its operations.

These include the shift of subsidiaries to renewable energy through the Green Energy Option Program, the deployment of electric and hybrid vehicles across field operations, and the use of solar-powered systems for traffic monitoring. MPTC also operates waste management and circular economy programs through its Material Recovery Facility, alongside large-scale environmental efforts such as coastal cleanups, tree planting, watershed rehabilitation, and mangrove restoration projects.

Together, these initiatives reflect MPTC’s approach of integrating sustainability and social development into its core infrastructure operations, delivering not just connectivity, but long-term value for communities and the environment.
