In line with Earth Month this April and the celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South) proudly highlights its commitment to sustainable operations through the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).
Since August 26, 2025, MPT South has successfully transitioned to sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable energy, specifically from the BacMan Geothermal Power Plant in Albay, Bicol. This milestone demonstrates our dedication to both environmental stewardship and operational efficiency.

IMPACT AT A GLANCE
•₱1.46 Million saved in electricity costs over 7 months
•₱209,114 average monthly savings (29.8% reduction in electricity expenses)
•41,900 kWh/month average electricity consumption at the MPT South Hub
•110.89 tCO₂e emissions avoided to date
•100% of electricity sourced from renewable energy
Breakdown of savings and environmental impact:
•Aug 26 – Oct 25, 2025: 82,671 kWh → 44.43 tCO₂e avoided
•Oct 2025 – Jan 2026: 123,680 kWh → 66.46 tCO₂e avoided
Financial impact:
•Regular billing (₱16.77/kWh): ₱702,080.93
•After Guaranteed Minimum Billing Demand (GMBD) Reduction (₱12.90/kWh): ₱540,410.39
•After GEOP (₱11.77/kWh): ₱492,966.55
This initiative proves that transitioning to renewable energy is not only good for the planet but also makes smart business sense. By leveraging competitive renewable energy rates, tax exemptions, and optimized GMBD, MPT South has achieved significant cost savings while reducing its carbon footprint.

Looking Ahead!
MPT South continues to champion decarbonization efforts and sustainable operations, inspiring a greener future for our communities and stakeholders. This Earth Month, we reaffirm our commitment to climate-conscious practices and encourage everyone to explore renewable energy options.
Together, we power progress sustainably.
