Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, making resilience more important than ever. At Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), being Built for Every Season means preparing our infrastructure, operations, and people to withstand challenges while ensuring safe and reliable mobility for the communities we serve.
Aligned with our Sustainability Strategic Priorities to Design for Resilience and Improve Customer Experience, MPTC continuously strengthens its infrastructure, enhances emergency preparedness, and fosters collaboration to ensure our expressways remain safe and accessible before, during, and after extreme weather events. These efforts also contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by building resilient infrastructure, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by improving disaster resilience, and SDG 13: Climate Action by strengthening adaptation to climate-related risks.
Through the leadership of our ERM and Sustainability teams, resilience is embedded in how we identify risks, strengthen our operations, and create long-term value. While ERM helps anticipate and manage enterprise-wide risks, the Sustainability team drives initiatives that enhance climate resilience, stakeholder collaboration, and responsible business practices. Together, they help ensure MPTC remains ready for today’s challenges and tomorrow’s uncertainties.
MPTC and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC – our parent company) are conducting a Science-Based Risk and Impact Assessment to identify climate and disaster risks affecting critical infrastructure. The project will provide data-driven recommendations to strengthen business continuity and long-term resilience.
Resilience is built through collaboration. NLEX Corp. has partnered with the 77 representatives from Provincial Governments of Pampanga and Bulacan, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), and other stakeholders to strengthen disaster preparedness through policy workshops and capacity-building initiatives.
Meanwhile, CALAX and CAVITEX convened the MPTC Flood Mitigation Forum, bringing together 135 representatives from government, emergency response agencies, and infrastructure partners to strengthen coordination and advance flood resilience planning.
Through NLEX’s support for the government’s Oplan Kontra Baha, over 16,000 linear meters of waterways in Manila have been cleared to improve water flow and reduce flooding in vulnerable communities, helping protect both motorists and nearby residents.
