In celebration of Philippine Environment Month this June, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) highlights its continued commitment to sustainability through measurable environmental, social, and community impact across its business units.
In 2025, MPTC and its subsidiaries planted over 8,400 trees, alongside a dedicated 6-hectare watershed rehabilitation project in Ipo Dam, strengthening biodiversity, water security, and climate resilience. These efforts are further supported by ongoing tree planting, reforestation, and maintenance programs across host communities.
MPTC advanced environmental protection through large-scale cleanup initiatives, including coastal and river cleanups that contributed to over 19,000 kg of coastal waste collected. Programs during International Coastal Cleanup across NLEX, MPT South and CCLEC strengthened community engagement in environmental stewardship.
Operational sustainability continues to scale with the deployment of 25 electric and hybrid vehicles, reducing fuel consumption. Complementing this, NLEX and MPT South have installed rainwater catchment systems, supporting water conservation and climate resilience across key facilities. Solar-powered infrastructure further enhances energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
MPTC’s sustainability programs also advance waste reduction and circular economy practices through initiatives such as Material Recovery, waste segregation training, and upcycling projects, including community playgrounds built from over 300 repurposed tires, benefiting local children and promoting environmental awareness.
These integrated initiatives demonstrate MPTC’s holistic sustainability approach, combining environmental protection, operational decarbonization, and community development to deliver measurable impact. As we observePhilippine Environment Month, MPTC reaffirms its commitment to building infrastructure that not only connects communities but also protects and restores the environment for future generations.
MPTC’s Sustainability Strategic Priorities Guide Our Actions:
- Designing for Resilience – strengthening climate-adaptive infrastructure, road safety systems, and community preparedness
- Building with Least Disruption – ensuring proactive safety measures and meaningful community engagement in all operations and projects
These programs support the UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
